The Board Of Trustees

Meet the dedicated individuals guiding MEEI's mission

The board of trustees of Mar Elias Educational Institutions (aka Amuta) comprises well-achieved individuals from our larger community in Galilee coming from different backgrounds and professions. They oversee the activities and governance of MEEI as an educational non-profit organization. The specific responsibilities and powers of a board of trustees vary. Here are some general aspects associated with a board of trustees at MEEI:

Meet our Board Members

Nawar Musllam

Nawar Musllam

Nawar Musllam held the position of the Governmental Elementary School in the village. She resigned and went into early retirement. However, during that time, she started caring for our Kindergarten at MEEI, the only one existing in Ibillin. She and Father Chacour developed the need to open an Elementary School. Father Chacour was very motivated to build the six floors building, which was named the Mariam Bawarde Elementary School. Nawar developed the school so skillfully, that she started with 18 children, as soon as the building was ready, one year later, children started streaming to the school, which ended by having 1,150 children. Amazing development. Nawar started forming a teacher's team around her, and when she retired, she already had a successor ready, Miss Johaina Matar, of whom we are proud. Meanwhile, Nawar was invited to join the Amuta. We entrusted her with the finances of the school with a few other members who are co-signees. Nawar is still working and giving her utmost care to create a treasure in heaven, not on earth.
